Riggs family reunion in Washington D.C.- Part 1

The fun for us began with a 17 hour car ride. We broke it up for the kids and me :) in 2 days. That meant an overnight hotel stay which is great because at this age they really look forward to it.

We arrived Sunday evening which was perfect because we were home and the cousins had time to get to know each other again and adults had time to visit. Sunday night Cruz had a fall off a little tikes slide (he was standing on it, the slide went one way and he went the other). Which left him with a sore wrist.

The next day Cruz's wrist was still hurting so we wrapped it in an Ace bandage and were off to our first activity of the day, the Zoo.
Cruz was looking forward to seeing a real alligator. He got his wish!

We also saw the gorillas and apes, another must see for the kids. They loved it. A video from that:

And after lunch and visiting a few more animals we headed home for dinner and some down time.

Later, we headed out again for an evening tour of the monuments. It was perfect weather.

Val joined us for lots of our activities. It was good to see her again! And she was awesome helping out with kids.
